UCLA is using experience in genomic biology and cutting-edge technologies to
transform undergraduate education. UCLA's UGRI is an interdepartmental collaboration among
undergraduate courses with the focus on Genomics.
Since 2003 we have sequenced about 75% of the genome of the thermophile bacterium Ammonifex degensii.
Currently we are starting the
annotation
of Ammonifex degensii in a collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy's Joint Genome Institute (JGI).
In 2007 we started also a collaboration with
Jake Lusis at UCLA to fine map regions of the Mouse Genome.
